Seems like we’re always posting pictures of us preparing for another conference or meeting, so here’s another one! We’ve been asked to hold a presentation for the conference “Digital communication, Cultural Heritage and Postcolonialism” here in Gothenburg about archaeology and social media. We’re writing about social media’s pro’s and con’s and we’re very much looking forward to the subsequent discussion after our presentation.

Analytic work resumes at the Museum Of World Culture for the Cultivated Wilderness Project

Today the ceramic analytic work continued at the Museum Of World Culture (VKM). We analyze the temper in ceramics mainly from the Santarém culture and complex. It’s always stimulating to work in the exciting environment at the museum.

Hey everyone,

The SALSA conference ended some while ago and was very enjoyable. The paper we presented on the material analysis, 3D-models and the public efforts made for the Cultivated Wilderness Project was received well and we’re looking forwards toward finishing the papers for publication. As for the other future plans we will continue the work at the Museum of World Culture’s warehouse analyzing the ceramics and lithics. The progress will be updated here, but also on our instagram accounts (which contain more pictures from the Amazon and personal updates):

Working on a paper for SALSA

Kjell Denti Gunnarsson and Patrik Castillo are very busy pointing at screens for our upcoming paper deadline for the international anthropological conference SALSA. The paper will treat our work for the Cultivated Wilderness Project, how our analyctical work is performed and what it has resulted in so far. We will also present and discuss our public efforts for the project; our lectures, social media (this blog for instance), 3D-models and how the historical view of the Amazon has been like.

We have started to work at the museum of world culture again and are looking foward to this years work.

We are now busy planning for this years trip to Santarém

We are now in the middle of the planning for this years journey to Santarém Brazil. We are probably going to travel in late october/early november

We’re finally back at the museum of world’s culture’s warehouse in Gothenburg! We’ve got a lot of artifacts to analyze, but hopefully it will go smooth. More pictures and posts to come soon!

Drawings of some artifacts from the Museum of World Culture

Here is two drawings made by Therése during the 2012 years work at the Museum of World Culture in Gothenburg. The drawings are of ceramic material. One is of a figurine that is both human and animal (bird) in character, and one is from a ceramic vessel fragment.

Planning for Santarem 2013

The works continues at the Museum of World Culture in Gothenburg on the Santarem materials. We are currently producing 3D models on some of the ceramics. The 3D models is then uploaded for everyone to see on the projects homepage http://www.cultivated-wilderness.org/
